For the third year the Hillsdale County Historical Society will give a one-time $250 award to a Hillsdale County high school senior to be used however he or she desires. The recipient will be chosen based on a 500 (or less) word essay, which will be judged by a committee from the Society. We request that you make available to your seniors the information on the following page so those who are interested may apply for this award. To get an idea for an essay topic, students might want to scan the website of the Society: hillsdalehistoricalsociety.org. The application and essay topic appear on the next page. Three copies of the submission are due to the committee by no later than March 1, 2017. By March 31, 2017, the committee will have completed the judging of the essays. What would you like us to know about you?
Essay: You don't need to be a historian to appreciate the interesting history of Hillsdale County. From 1827, when Moses & Mary Allen brought their family to the area, to the present day there are people, places, things and events that have had an impact on the county. Choose one of them. In 500 words or less tell how the topic you chose has affected Hillsdale County.
